Centre for British Photography
The Centre for British Photography seeks to provide free exhibitions, stage events, serve as a centre for education, and provide an archive for those wishing to view, study and experience the diverse landscape of British Photography today and of the past.
The Centre for British Photography has been seed funded by The Hyman Foundation which was established in 2020 to promote and support photography in Britain in all its diversity. It aims to facilitate the work of contemporary artists, award grants, fund research and scholarship, and address issues of legacy and the preservation of archives. The Centre will be based in Jermyn Street just off Piccadilly in central London for an initial period of two years in order to develop relationships with other organisations, charities and individuals that will allow it to become independent and self-sustaining. Exhibitions at the Centre will be free and all profits from the gallery shop will go to fund the Centre and its grants programme.
