ADI Design Museum
Spanning 5135 square meters, ADI is one of the biggest museums in Europe dedicated to design.
ADI Design Museum–Compasso d’Oro is housed in a historic 1930s building that once served as both a horse-drawn tram depot and an electrical distribution plant. The museum is located in a revitalised industrial area: the design celebrates its rich industrial heritage, with a strong focus on the preservation and enhancement of the building’s original architecture.
The museum is dedicated to the prestigious Compasso d’Oro award, established in 1954 by Gio Ponti to promote the quality of Italian design. Today, it houses the entire collection of historical Compasso d’Oro projects and is the oldest and most authoritative award in the design field worldwide. In addition to its permanent collection, the museum hosts temporary exhibitions, cross-disciplinary initiatives, and public events aimed at promoting design culture both nationally and internationally. With a continuously evolving curatorial team, the museum ensures diverse perspectives and dynamic programming.
Open and accessible to all, ADI Design Museum also offers spaces for social interaction, work meetings, and cultural exchange. The glass gallery, a key feature of the museum, connects Via Ceresio to Via Bramante, creating a new pathway for design exploration.
