Fondazione Studio Museo Vico Magistretti
Established in 2010, the foundation preserves the legacy of iconic designer Vico Magistretti.
The Fondazione Studio Museo Vico Magistretti transforms the designer’s historic Milan studio into a space dedicated to preserving, researching, and promoting his work in architecture and design.
Set in the building designed by his father, architect Pier Giulio Magistretti, the studio museum is recognised for its historical significance: it retains the original setting where Magistretti worked for over 60 years, offering visitors an intimate look into his creative world. The space includes a temporary exhibition room, once Montella’s workspace, which now showcases documents from the historical archive, revealing new perspectives on Magistretti’s work. The meeting room, still featuring the Sonora lamp designed by Magistretti himself, now serves as a space for archival consultation. His personal office has been preserved almost exactly as he left it, complete with two work desks, a black leather sofa, and walls covered in sketches, photographs, and letters.
Founded with the support of Triennale Milano, Artemide, Cassina, De Padova, Flou, and Oluce, the Fondazione Studio Museo Vico Magistretti hosts design and architecture exhibitions, guided tours, talks, and workshops, continuing to share and celebrate the designer’s enduring legacy.
