Fundación Proa

Internationally renowned cultural center located in the traditional neighborhood of La Boca, close to Caminito corner. Its programming spans from exhibitions dedicated to masters and art movements of the 20th century, to experimental cutting-edge art projects, and, on occasions, exhibitons based on archeological or ethnographical collections.

Fundación Proa develops also education and outreach programs as well as programs of cultural exchange with prestigious cultural institutions of other countries.

The building of Proa, an old house with Italian façade from the end of the 19th century, was recuperated and designed as a contemporary art center by the Italian architecture studio Caruso-Torricella. Ten years after its opening in 1996, the Foundation faced a process of renovation that concluded in 2008 with the inauguration of its new building: a three-storey building, which features four exhibition rooms, a multimedia auditorium, a specialized library, a restaurant and terrace, as well as dynamic spaces open to the public and a transparent façade that enables the communication of experiences from the inside towards the neighborhood. Its intense cultural activity has contributed to a great extent to the recovery of the port area of La Boca.

Fundación Proa is a private foundation which receives permanent support from Tenaris – Organización Techint.
