Fundação PLMJ
The PLMJ Foundation was established in 2001, the year PLMJ relocated its headquarters to Avenida da Liberdade, Lisbon. The move was marked by the exhibition “Uma Visão sobre os Anos 80-90” (“A Vision of the 80s-90s”), which set the tone for the Foundation’s long-term commitment to contemporary art.
Today, the Foundation’s collection is recognised as a leading corporate art collection in Portugal and internationally. It comprises more than 1,400 works by over 500 artists, spanning painting, photography, sculpture, installation, and video.
The collection focuses on artists from Portuguese-speaking countries, particularly at the early stages of their careers. This ongoing commitment to emerging talent and to cultural contexts often underrepresented in the global art system remains a defining principle of the Foundation.
In addition to the collection, the Foundation maintains a library of artists’ books and catalogues and has supported numerous artist residencies and initiatives dedicated to strengthening the visibility of Portuguese-language art.
