The Fondazione Adolfo Pini was established in 1991 at the behest of Adolfo Pini, with the aim of promoting and enhancing the work of his uncle, the painter Renzo Bongiovanni Radice, alongside preserving Pini’s own literary writings. To achieve this, he allocated part of his artistic, real estate, and financial heritage to the foundation, which now bears his name.
The foundation is housed on the first floor of an elegant late 19th-century building at Corso Garibaldi 2, Milan. Its rooms display a selection of works by Renzo Bongiovanni Radice, alongside furnishings and artworks from his collection, recreating the refined and cultured atmosphere of an early 20th-century upper-middle-class residence.
In addition to Adolfo Pini (1920–1986), a scientist and professor of physiology, the building was also home and studio to Renzo Bongiovanni Radice (1899–1970), Pini’s maternal uncle. Radice played a key role in shaping his nephew’s cultural development, particularly fostering his interest in the arts. The foundation is dedicated to promoting and preserving Radice’s work through studies and exhibitions, while also supporting young artists across all disciplines through awards and scholarships. Furthermore, it celebrates Adolfo Pini’s legacy, not only as a scientist but also as a writer, composer, and art enthusiast—embodying a unique blend of scientific and humanistic culture.
