Fondazione Elpis

Fondazione Elpis was founded in 2020 in order to create new spaces and opportunities for dialogue and expression amongst Italian and international artists, with a particular focus on young artists.

Founded in 2020 by entrepreneur and art collector Marina Nissim, Fondazione Elpis aims to be a dynamic place, internationally inclined and open to multiculturalism; a place for experimenting, whose mission is to support young artists and emerging talents. The Foundation pursues its goals through a programme of exhibitions, artists residences, educational activities and projects widespread throughout Italy. While aiming to involve diverse audiences and explore places that are outside traditional art circuits, Fondazione Elpis unites seemingly distant worlds while intercepting expressive languages that are constantly evolving.

The decision to open a space in Milan comes from the projects and collaborations that have happened in the last few years on a national scale. This is how the Foundation has surrounded itself with an ever-growing network, putting into action new models for participation and cultural fruition. An example of this is Una Boccata d’Arte, the contemporary art project that reached its third edition in 2022, realised in collaboration with Galleria Continua and with the participation of Threes. An initiative that takes place throughout the whole country, each year it involves 20 artists who create contemporary art installations that are visitable for the whole summer in 20 Italian villages, one for each region.
