Together with Dia:Chelsea, Dia:Beacon is the museum’s branch of Dia Art Foundation which brings together a collection of art from the 1960s to the present. Dia:Beacon opened in 2003 on the banks of the Hudson River in Beacon, New York.  The foundation dates back to 1974, when Philippa de Menil, Heiner Friedrich, and Helen Winkler established Dia to help artists achieve visionary projects.

Today, Dia reunites sites, from the iconic permanent, site-specific artworks and installations in New York, the American West and Germany.
