Nitra gallery
Founded in 2013 the gallery as two branches, one in Athens and one in Thessaloniki
Nitra gallery, former Atrion gallery, was founded in Thessaloniki in 1994. In 2013, the gallery changed its name to Nitra, based in the city’s roman agora neighborhood.
Nitra presents a dynamic, multifaceted exhibition program, representing both Greek and international artists with a range of practices. Professional experience with the Greek art world, an overall conception of artistic production in Greece over the past three decades as seen through two generations, and the strong ties Nitra has developed with the city of Istanbul have all led to the the creation of an international network of artists, collectors and professionals in the field.
This in turn has manifested itself in Nitra’s new gallery space in Athens, which opens its doors just before Documenta – one of the most important institutions in contemporary art today – begins, presenting the importance of the Greek art scene today on an international horizon.
