KWADRAT
Founded in 2007 as a project space, run by Martin Kwade in his private apartment in Berlin-Schöneberg, in 2008 the project-room moved to its first location on Adalbertstrasse 20, Berlin-Kreuzberg.
Since the foundation of KWADRAT, Martin Kwade has collaborated with a multitude of artists for the organisation of several solo and group exhibitions every year. In particular, the space has shown painting, sculpture, video, performance and multimedia, becoming a point of reference for the emerging art scene of Berlin.
In recent years, the exhibition programme has focused mainly on providing young promising artists with the opportunity of first solo shows in the gallery, exhibiting at the same time very established artistic positions, featured in group shows.
After participating in the first Art-Fairs in Brussels and Berlin, KWADRAT has functioned as regular gallery since 2012. In September 2014 the gallery moved from a backyard to the front house in a new location on Manteuffelst. 92, also in Berlin-Kreuzberg.
