Magazzeno Art Gaze

Via Alfredo Testoni 5/E-D

Magazzeno Art Gaze was born in 2016 in Ravenna’s Darsena, industrial district of the city, the only link between the city centre and Adriatic Sea. The space chosen by Alessandra Carini is an ex-sulfur warehouse, in Italian magazzino dello zolfo, from which the gallery takes its name.

At the beginning of 2020 the gallery settles in the historic city centre. The building from 1836 is frescoed by Romolo Liverani, one of the most known Romagna painter of the 19th century. Inhabited in the central wing, the space is a warm and cozy home-gallery that goes beyond white cube idea, creating a dialogue between contemporary art and modern art.

Alongside, the gallery takes part to various national and international art fairs, curates exhibitions outside the gallery’s spaces and promotes different projects as Equidistanze | Residenze Artistiche (residency programme) born in 2020 during the pandemic.

Magazzeno is a contemporary art gallery where the curatorial practice comes before the commercial aspect, where we always try to enhance every artist and their research, through an intense and constant dialogue. From the very beginning the line of the gallery favors artists and productions that deal with political themes, but from December 2023 political art, meant in all its possible declinations, is the only handled by Magazzeno.

In 2024 the gallery moves to the centre of Bologna: a big space that hosts a bar and a bookshop curated by the urban brand Bonobolabo.
