Al Markhiya Gallery
Al Markhiya Gallery presents a programme of contemporary art exhibitions and related events throughout the year, providing established and emerging artists with opportunities to present their work. The gallery also engages in partnerships and collaborative initiatives with major galleries and institutions worldwide, with the aim of facilitating the exchange of exhibitions and enhancing the visibility of Arab artists.
The gallery supports new creative practices and presents a carefully curated selection of established and emerging contemporary Arab artists working across a range of disciplines. Through this approach, Al Markhiya Gallery contributes to the promotion of Arab art and culture both regionally and internationally.
In 2008, Al Markhiya Gallery established its first exhibition space in Doha at Souq Waqif. In December 2014, the gallery relocated to a permanent venue at Katara Cultural Village. In September 2017, a second location was opened adjacent to the Fire Station Studios.
Across these two venues, Al Markhiya Gallery presents a programme of solo and group exhibitions, with displays typically changing every six to eight weeks. Opening receptions are attended by exhibiting artists and provide opportunities for visitors and clients to engage directly with the work, supporting the continued development of Doha’s art scene.
