Laveronica Arte Contemporanea

Founded in 2007 in the Sicilian town of Modica

From the beginning the gallery focused on politically and socially oriented art, and given its geographical location, it began to collaborate with artists from the Mediterranean area: Cyprus, Libya, Croatia, Israel and Italy. Since its establishment the gallery has hosted solo and group exhibitions on a regular basis with represented and guest artists. The gallery hosted – among others – the first solo shows in Italy by Johanna Billing, Igor Grubić, Uriel Orlow, Marianna Christofides and Adelita Husni-Bey, and it currently represents all these artists. Parallel to the exhibition programme Laveronica has participated in numerous art fairs.

At Artissima 18 in Turin Laveronica received the New Entries Guido Carbone Award by an international jury composed of Peter Eleey (P.S.1 Contemporary Art Center), Florence Dérieux (FRAC Champagne-Ardenne) and Stefan Kalmár (Artist’s Space, New York).
