Galeria Filomena Soares
Established in 1999 in Lisbon, Galeria Filomena Soares is dedicated to contemporary artistic production, fostering a productive dialogue between artists, curators and institutions active within both the Portuguese and international art scenes.
Now in its third decade, the gallery continues to advance its mission through a robust programme of exhibitions, artist projects, institutional collaborations, performances and interdisciplinary initiatives. It frequently invites renowned curators, writers and scholars to collaborate, including, in the past, David Rimanelli, Rosa Martinez, Jürgen Bock and David Rosenberg.
Committed to art publishing, Galeria Filomena Soares has produced numerous monographs, artist’s books, exhibition catalogues and limited editions, developed in close collaboration with artists and institutions.
The gallery represents a diverse roster of artists, including Andreia Santana, Carlos Motta, Christine Streuli, Délio Jasse, Edgar Martins, Fernanda Fragateiro, Fredrik Værslev, Ghada Amer, Günther Förg, Helena Almeida, Herbert Brandl, Imi Knoebel, Letícia Ramos, Miguel Rio Branco, Pedro Barateiro, Peter Zimmermann, Rui Chafes, Sara Bichão, Shirin Neshat and Tracey Moffatt, as well as the estates of Dan Graham and Helena Almeida.
The gallery is located in the eastern area of Lisbon, once an important industrial hub for the city’s development and now one of its largest urban regeneration zones. The space, measuring approximately 1,000 m², comprises two exhibition rooms of different scales and configurations, enabling the presentation of a wide range of ambitious projects.
