Marlborough
Marlborough is an art space dedicated to the acquisition and sale of sculpture and paintings of nineteenth and twentieth century, and the promotion of a great number of contemporary artists from Europe, United States, South America and Asia.
Founded in London in 1946 by Frank Lloyd and Harry Fisher, with the association of David Somerset in 1948, Galería Marlborough begun gaining prestige representing the artists Oskar Kokoschka, Henry Moore, Francis Bacon, Victor Pasmore and Lucian Freud. In 1962 the gallery opened in New York and Tokyo, and in Madrid in 1989, followed by the inauguration of other spaces in Chile, Florida, Chelsea and Barcelona. Created by Pierre Levai as Marlborough Gallerie’s delegate in Spain, Marlborough opens in Madrid in 1992 with a great exhibition by Francis Bacon. Marlborough Madrid and Marlborough Barcelona have an independent space to exhibit monographic, collective and permanent exhibitions.
