OMR was founded in Mexico City in 1983 by Jaime Riestra and Patricia Ortiz Monasterio.

OMR is a contemporary art gallery based in Mexico City, founded in 1983 by Patricia Ortiz Monasterio and Jaime Riestra. Over four decades, the gallery has cultivated and supported the careers of numerous emerging and established artists across Latin America and globally. Recognised as a pioneering contemporary art space in Mexico, OMR has presented over 400 exhibitions spanning diverse media and genres, while maintaining a significant presence at international art fairs.
In 2015, OMR relocated from its long-standing home in a turn-of-the-century Porfirian villa at Plaza Río de Janeiro in Roma Norte to a renovated brutalist building on Córdoba 100, formerly the site of the record and book store Sala Margolín.
