Carpintaria
Opened in November 2016 by Fortes D’Aloia & Gabriel, Carpintaria makes use of a dynamic and interdisciplinary programming testing different models of exhibitions and promoting encounters of duos and trios of artists, not necessarily restricted to the visual arts.
Opened in November 2016 by Fortes D’Aloia & Gabriel as an independent space of Fortes D’Aloia & Gabriel Gallery (ex Galeria Fortes Vilaça in São Paulo, Brasil), Carpintaria is part of the Vila Portugal Complex in Rio De Janeiro, taking place in an old carpentry used to function. The renovation of the space, made by Pedro Evora and Pedro Rivera, from Rua Architetos, provides the elevation of the ceiling height, but the wooden A-frames and the original tiles have been kept.
Fortes D’Aloia & Gabriel Carpintaria is a large and versatile space, overlooking the racetrack and the city’s mountains. The experimental vocation of the group allows testing different models of exhibitions and promoting encounters of duos and trios of artists, also exploring the dialogue with other languages, so that exhibitions are not necessarily restricted to the visual arts.
