Mao Space

Established in the early autumn, 2014, Mao Space debuts itself vigorously in Shanghai with its own perception, interpretation and confidence upon contemporary art. Founded by Purpleroof team, who has curated Jing’an International Sculpture Project (JISP) as well as other numerous significant sculpture projects, Mao Space has showed its prominent local strength and in-depth understanding on diverse art forms. By deepening collaborations with influential curators and scholars, Mao Space participates in the process of ongoing and forwarding Chinese contemporary art through representing various contemporary art shows and activities. Meanwhile, by introducing distinguished international contemporary artists to China, Mao Space positively builds valuable communicating platforms bridging between artists and the public, art institutions and the market.
