Intersections strives to highlight all that is shared amongst people, and to foster mutual understanding and respect of the differences and similarities across people and cultures. Like mathematics, art is a universal language, which unites people who can otherwise appear so distant from one another.
Intersections represents both established and emerging artists, mostly based in Southeast Asia, with a primary focus on the emerging market of contemporary Burmese art. Intersections has been invited by Art Stage Singapore 2015, to present two Burmese artists on the SEA platform. Intersections was one of the eight galleries representing Singapore on the guest of honour platform at Art Paris 2015, presenting one Singaporean artist and two Burmese artists.
Intersections’ pop-up gallery concept aims to encourage people to discover art in unusual and unexpected places. We strive to connect the artists’ intentions, the artworks’ meanings and the chosen venues’ characteristics. Our art shows take place, alternatively, in large, private shop houses or in small apartments, community centres or prestigious galleries.
