Since its founding in 1969, Galería Pelaires has been at the heart of Palma de Mallorca’s contemporary art scene. Established by Josep Pinya Bonnin, affectionately known as Pep Pinya, it holds the distinction of being the island’s first contemporary art gallery. More than five decades later, it remains a cultural landmark, continuously shaping and redefining Mallorca’s artistic landscape.
From its inception, Galería Pelaires has been a hub for groundbreaking exhibitions. In its very first year, it showcased works by Pablo Picasso, Mensa, and Antoni Clavé, followed by an exhibition by Joan Miró in 1970. Over the years, the gallery has exhibited an impressive roster of international and Spanish artists, including Joan Brossa, Manolo Valdés, and Henry Moore, cementing its reputation as a vital space for artistic dialogue and innovation.
Located in the historic center of Palma, at Calle Can Verí, 3, the gallery continues to offer an ever-evolving program of exhibitions, presenting works from both emerging and established artists.
