Negropontes – Venice
The Palazzina Masieri, an architectural jewel on Venice’s Grand Canal, has a rich and complex history, marked by ambitious projects and major renovations, the first of which a renovation proposal by renowned American architect Frank Lloyd Wright. In 1962, the Masieri Foundation initiated a new project with Valeriano Pastor. However, it wasn’t until 1968 that Carlo Scarpa was entrusted with the task of redesigning the interior of the Palazzina while preserving its exterior appearance. The last of Scarpa’s three proposals was approved in 1972, and the building completed in 1983. Until 1996, the Masieri Foundation played a key role in architectural cultural output; hosting exhibitions and publishing content.
The prestigious association of Galerie Negropontes and architects Roberta Bartolone and Giulio Mangano marks the beginning of an exciting new chapter for Palazzina Masieri, ushering in a major renovation and the building’s revival as a centre for art and learning.
