Kasko
A space for mediation and experimental, exploratory, and process-oriented artistic creation.
Formerly Kaskadenkondensator, Kasko was founded in 1994 as an association that operates independently in both content and funding.
As a complementary artistic venue, Kasko plays an independent role in the context of the Basel art institutions. It functions as a flexible structure in which artists and theorists work together at the intersection of art and meditation, fostering dialogue between artists and those interested in art. A central goal is to provide space and support for both artists and art mediators. Kasko also actively seeks and maintains networks and collaborations with local and regional initiatives and institutions, as well as with other independent art spaces both nationally and internationally. The venue itself serves as a free space and experimental field for artists and art mediators. At the same time, Kasko stands for a solid and sustainable artistic program with a strong focus on performance and other performative practices.
