SALTS supports young Swiss and international artists to develop unique and outstanding site-specific projects. Founded in 2009 by Samuel and Anna Leuenberger, it has evolved from an intimate art salon into a dynamic platform supporting emerging Swiss and international artists. The organisation is renowned for commissioning site-specific projects that challenge conventional exhibition formats and encourage interdisciplinary dialogue.
Housed in a unique setting that includes a former butcher shop, converted garage boxes, a courtyard, and a riverside garden along the Birs, SALTS offers artists distinctive environments to engage with both spatial and conceptual elements. Each project emerges from an open-ended commissioning process, aiming to become a significant milestone in the artist’s career. The institution fosters collaborations with other non-profit spaces and educational institutions, promoting a vibrant exchange within the contemporary art community.
