Tanzhaus
Located in the Franck Areal in Basel, Tanzhaus is an artist-run center for contemporary dance.
Tanzhaus functions as a vibrant hub for artistic creation, experimentation, and community engagement. It supports choreographers and dance companies through the development, production, and presentation of new works—offering not only creative space, but also organisational support to foster sustainable artistic practice.
In addition to its choreographic focus, the institution operates at the intersection of dance and technology. Through its Dance and Media Lab, Tanzhaus explores innovative ways of presenting dance via audiovisual media, supports the integration of new technologies into performance, and contributes to the documentation and archiving of dance on film.
Driven by a team of artists and cultural professionals, Tanzhaus Basel hosts a Community Art Space where individuals of all ages and backgrounds can explore creative expression. Through workshops and inclusive projects, it invites those with or without prior dance experience to engage with movement and art in meaningful ways.
