Viafarini DOCVA
Non profit organisation for contemporary art founded in 1991, is an exhibition space open for experimentation; it offers documentation services on visual arts, and runs a residency program for artists and curators.
Viafarini was established in 1991 as a non-profit organisation, taking inspiration from American models and the European Kunstverein, a concept that was new to Italy at the time. The exhibition space is conceived as a project room, managed through a collaboration between private and public bodies.
Viafarini is dedicated to promoting Italy’s emerging art scene but also operates internationally, producing site-specific projects by artists such as Marina Abramović, Vito Acconci, Maja Bajevic, Valentin Carron, Martin Creed, Jimmie Durham, Katharina Grosse, Mona Hatoum, Mathilde ter Heijne, Federico Herrero, Nic Hess, Runa Islam, Hans Op de Beeck, Tobias Rehberger, David Renggli, Rosemarie Trockel, and Gillian Wearing.
