Magasins Généraux
A cultural venue created by BETC in 2017, the Magasins Généraux are a place for creativity, ideas, and emerging voices.
The Magasins Généraux are a cultural venue dedicated to creativity, ideas and emerging voices. Housed in a renovated former 1930s general store on the banks of the Canal de l’Ourcq in Pantin, the venue has become a platform for artistic and cultural experimentation. Once abandoned, the building was occupied by graffiti artists from around the world and became known as the “cathedral of graffiti”. Today, their year-round programme of exhibitions and events identifies, supports and showcases emerging artists, creators, thinkers and activists. As an artistic laboratory, the Magasins Généraux encourage dialogue across creative fields and addresses social and ecological issues, with a strong commitment to inclusiveness and accessibility. Convinced of the synergies to be encouraged between art, society and the economy, the Magasins Généraux associate the various residents of the site, brands, media, local actors and partner institutions, through original collaborations.
