Pinacoteca Nazionale di Bologna
The Pinacoteca Nazionale di Bologna is one of the city’s foremost art museums, housed in the former Jesuit novitiate in the historic San Donato district. It offers a comprehensive journey through Italian and especially Emilian painting from the 13th to the 18th century, with masterpieces by local and Italian greats such as Giotto, Raphael, the Carraccis, Guido Reni, and Titian, alongside works spanning Gothic, Renaissance, and Baroque traditions.
Set in spacious galleries connected to the Academy of Fine Arts, the collection reflects the rich artistic heritage of Bologna and the surrounding region, bringing together ecclesiastical commissions and private works in a coherent narrative of expressive and technical development.
