Museo Arte Contemporanea Cavalese
The Museum was founded in 2001 within the historic Palazzo Rizzoli, an ancient noble residence situated in the old town centre of Cavalese in Val di Fiemme.
Over the years, the Palazzo has undergone significant transformations in both appearance and function, and today comprises several units that differ in period of construction, style and architectural features.
The first nucleus of the Museum’s modern and contemporary art collection originated from a valuable selection of works by Bruno Munari and other established artists. These pieces formed part of the collection of Dr Giancarlo Baccoli, a physician originally from Brescia and resident in Val di Fiemme, who cultivated relationships with artists, collectors and critics active in the Italian art scene of the second half of the twentieth century.
Over time, the Museum has hosted both group and solo temporary exhibitions, as well as cultural programmes designed to strengthen its connection with the Alpine territory—closely linked to local traditions while remaining attentive to new artistic languages.
Today, the Museum of Contemporary Art is a place where the perception of Alpine identity—its particularities and values—is enhanced through encounters with new yet complementary perspectives of research and interpretation, fostering deeper cultural and social awareness.
