The Courtauld
The Courtauld Gallery is home to one of the world’s great art collections, housed in the historic setting of Somerset House in central London. The collection spans the medieval period to the present day and encompasses paintings, drawings, prints, sculpture and decorative arts. The Gallery is particularly renowned for its collection of Impressionist and Post-Impressionist paintings, assembled by the collector and philanthropist Samuel Courtauld.
Alongside its permanent collection, the Gallery presents a programme of temporary exhibitions, offering fresh perspectives on the work of significant artists from the past and present.
The Gallery’s activities draw on the Courtauld Institute of Art’s standing as a leading international centre for the study and research of art history, conservation and curating. Through school visits, family events, curator-led talks and short courses exploring a wide range of artistic themes, the Courtauld invites visitors of all ages and backgrounds to discover, appreciate and engage with art and its histories.
