Colegio de San Ildefonso

In 1994, the building was permanently opened as a cultural centre and museum, jointly administered by the National Autonomous University of Mexico, the National Council for Culture and the Arts, and the Government of the Federal District of Mexico City.
Located in the historic centre, the Antiguo Colegio de San Ildefonso is a venue for temporary exhibitions that also preserves its own heritage — originally an important Jesuit college, it later housed the National Preparatory School between 1867 and 1989. The building also contains outstanding murals created between 1922 and 1940 by leading artists of the Mexican muralist movement.
