Palazzo Citterio

Palazzo Citterio, also known as Palazzo Furstemberg, is an elegant 18th-century residence located at Via Brera 12-14, in the heart of Milan.

Via Brera, 12, 20121 Milan, Italy

Acquired by the state in 1972, the palace was intended to become the centerpiece of the “Grande Brera”, a visionary project conceived by Franco Russoli, then director of the Pinacoteca di Brera.

Thanks to the spatial continuity between the Brera Palace and Palazzo Citterio—linked through the latter’s garden and the botanical garden—it was seen as the ideal solution to address the space constraints of the Pinacoteca di Brera and its offices. Notably, the famous Emilio Jesi collection was once displayed in its halls. Since then, various projects have been proposed for its restoration.
