Musée de la Chasse et de la Nature
The Musée de la Chasse et de la Nature, inaugurated by André Malraux in 1967 in the 17th-century Hôtel de Guénégaud, expanded in 2007 to the adjacent 18th-century Hôtel de Mongelas. This private museum, awarded the “Musée de France” label, explores the evolving relationship between humans and animals through a unique museography that blends ancient, modern, and contemporary art. Under the long-time curatorship of Claude dʼAnthenaise, the museum has shifted focus from hunting to a broader exploration of human-animal relationships. The permanent collections mix art with naturalized animals, while temporary exhibitions, renewed two or three times a year, offer contemporary artistic perspectives and enrich the visitor experience.
