Museu do Açude – Museus Raymundo Ottoni de Casto Maya
The Museu do Açude, with the Chácara do Céu (Santa Teresa), integrates Castro Maya Museums, now linked to the Brazilian Institute of Museums (IBRAM/MinC).
The museum strategy implemented in the Castro Maya Museums was established through the definition of a triad for each of the museums to identify their specific cultural practice. Located in the largest urban forest in the world, the Museum-Nature-City triad was applied to the Museu do Açude, hinged to the concept of Integral Patrimony.
In addition to the renewal of long-term exhibition, the “Contemporary Art and Nature” project created a permanent outdoor museum circuit with works of contemporary Brazilian artists in dialogue with the surrounding landscape. Works by Iole de Freitas, Anna Maria Maiolino, Hélio Oiticica, Lygia Pape, Nuno Ramos, José Rezende, Piotr Uklanski and Eduardo Coimbra integrate this circuit.
