Total Museum of Contemporary Art
Located in a secluded residential area of Pyeongchang-dong overlooking Bukhan Mountain, the Total Museum combines both the natural beauties of its environs and the best of contemporary Korean art. Outdoor exhibit spaces at the museum lets you enjoy the scenic views afforded by its location accompanied by a wide variety of cultural events such as lectures and performances. If you ever wanted to take a moment to smell the roses and escape the hustle-and-bustle of Seoul, visiting the Total Museum on a clear day is a detour worth noting.
A private and non-profit museum, the museum aims to engage the public through a harmony of nature and art. Rather than contemplative or “deep” art, the Total Museum prefers to display light and whimsical exhibits.
The permanent collection includes sculptures, prints, paintings, videos, and illustrated books ranging from modern to old masterpieces. The museum also holds special events, such as concerts and award ceremonies.
