MART – Museo di Arte Moderna e Contemporanea di Trento e Rovereto

Conceived as a cultural hub rather than a traditional museum, the Mart engages within its public spaces with the Civic Library, the Melotti Auditorium, the Municipal Theatre and the University.
Set within the broader cultural landscape of Trentino, the Museum is a genuine contemporary environment. The territory’s non-metropolitan character has made it possible to build a high-quality cultural and tourism offering that meets the needs of those who love nature, the outdoors and wellbeing, and of those who seek experiences with a unique character.

The Mart holds an invaluable heritage, featuring major masterpieces of twentieth-century Italian art, and produces dozens of exhibitions and projects each year. It relies on a team of curators, conservators, researchers, archivists and professionals in education, scientific outreach and communication.

From its foundation until the end of 2011, the Mart was directed by Gabriella Belli. In 2012, the directorship was entrusted to Cristiana Collu, who was succeeded in June 2015 by Gianfranco Maraniello for a five-year term. The Mart is currently led by its president, Vittorio Sgarbi, and its director, Micol Forti.
