XX1 Gallery is housed in the former studio of sculptor Xawery Dunikowskiego, who died in 1964. Since 1968, there existed Sculpture Gallery. At a time when the gallery led Ewa Golik, prevailed here the action space, installations and conceptual art.

They staged works by Wlodzimierz Borowski, Andrew Dłużniewski, Koji Kamoji, Edward Krasinski, Richard Ługowski Edward Narkiewicz, Waldemar Petryka, Erna Rosenstein. Since the beginning of 2001 Gallery operates under its present name in the new formula organizational – structure Mazowiecki Institute of Culture (formerly the Mazowieckie Culture and Art Centre).
