Insitu
The collective was founded in Autumn 2012, originally basing its activities in a non-profit space located in Berlin.
Insitu is a Berlin-based collective consisting of the curators Marie Graftieaux, Nora Mayr, Gilles Neiens and Lauren Reid. The name insitu refers to the curatorial team’s understanding of curatorial practice as being necessarily »in situ« in terms of cultural, social and geographical spaces.
Insitu collective was running as a project space at Kurfürstenstrasse 21–22, Berlin-Schöneberg from 2013 – 2017. There insitu collective conceptualized its program in annual Cycles, which provided a thematic focus for the exhibitions and events of the year. This cyclical structure provides insitu with the opportunity to ask new questions each year.
Insitu collective now expands its practice to collaborations with art spaces and institutions both in Berlin and internationally.
