The Fire Station

The Fire Station is an interactive artistic platform that brings together talent from various disciplines in one creative and open space. Its aim is to inspire an appreciation of the arts in the very heart of Doha. It is opening its doors to new ideas, concepts and talent, from people of diverse backgrounds.

Conservation of the old Civil Defense building and its transformation into the Fire Station Artist in Residence programme for community use is an objective embedded in the Qatar National Vision 2030, set by the Emir of Qatar, H.H. Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani.

Qatar Museums has evolved the building’s purpose, from one of civil administration to one of civil use. In the past, public visits to this building were limited to schools. Today it is open and accessible to anyone interested in learning about emerging artistic talent in Qatar and the region.

The Fire Station runs an Artist in Residence programme that focuses on the visual arts, fashion, anime, performance, multimedia, literature and music, and is open to curators in all disciplines. It will strive to initiate and support new approaches in understanding, producing and valuing art; based on openness, innovation and originality.
