Sharjah Museum of Islamic Civilization

The Sharjah Museum of Islamic Civilization is located in a former souq or indoor market.

Al Majara Area, Corniche Street, Sharjah, UAE

The Sharjah Museum of Islamic Civilization opened its doors in the Heritage Area in 1996. Later, its extensive collections were moved to the impressive building of the traditional Souq Al Majarrah. The new museum opened its doors in 2008, hosting thousands of rare and important Islamic artifacts from all over the Islamic World, arranged according to themes over seven spacious galleries and display areas.

The mission of the museum is to display, interpret, research and further develop the museum’s collections for a wide range of local, national and international audiences, and to stimulate knowledge, appreciation and enjoyment of Islamic art, history, science and culture.
