The Kitchen is one of New York City’s oldest nonprofit spaces, showing innovative work by emerging and established artists across disciplines.

The Kitchen provides artists who work in media, literature, performing arts with exhibition opportunities. It was one of the first institutions to start promoting emerging video artists and has helped launch the career of many artists of the American avant-gard such as Vito Acconci, Kiki Smith and Charles Atlas.
