The Instituto Tomie Ohtake opened in 2001 as a tribute to the namesake artist, and it is specially conceived, both architectonically and conceptually, to host local and international exhibits, which broad from visual arts and architecture to design. More recently, theatre, cinema and literature events were organized.
Its cultural program includes exhibitions focused on the last 60 years of the artistic scene or which helps to understand Tomie Ohtake’s production. Beside them, the institution is a pioneer in investigating contemporary art education, organizing activities and projects thought for wider and various audiences.
This non-profit organization funds itself through regular public and private investments.
