Completed in December of 2009, the de la Cruz Collection is privately funded by collectors, Rosa and Carlos de la Cruz. The 30,000 square foot museum, located in Miami’s Design District, serves as an extension of the couple’s home where for over 30 years they have shared with the public their passion for art, collecting, and education. Its primary mission is to provide yearly exhibitions with a focus on contemporary art, offering accessibility for audiences at no cost, and supporting the local community through public programming that includes lectures, artist-led workshops, student travel, and pre-college programmes.
