Islands of Exile – The Case of Leros

The collateral event is organized by the Royal College of Art.
The Greek island of Leros presents a unique case study into the history of securitisation and control of the Mediterranean, an ecosystem defined by exile, detainment, institutional and infrastructural violence within which architecture and spatial practices play a fundamental role. Part of a years-long research project, the exhibition explores the relationship between architectural form, urban/territorial management, institutional analysis and processes of of subjectification with original archive material and site photography.
