Connectivities: Living beyond the boundaries – Macao and the Greater Bay Area
Collateral event of the 17th International Architecture Exhibition - La Biennale di Venezia
Presented by The Macao Museum of Art
Commissioned by Paolo De Grandis
Curated by Carlos Marreiros
The exhibition explores the connectivities characterizing a particular geographical area: the small city of Macao, in the immense territory of China, and the challenges it faces. Here, architecture, people, gastronomy, and life habits in general show traces of the fusion of cultures, but even so, Macao still struggles for integration into the Greater Bay Area of Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao (GBA). The investigation of connectivities at the urbanistic level becomes a pretext to reflect on the community and the individual’s life, collective memories, architectural archetypes, and daily lives.
