Heinz Mack – Vibration of Light / Vibrazione della luce
59th Venice Biennale Collateral Event at the Biblioteca Nazionale Marciana.
Title: Vibration of Light / Vibrazione della luce
Curator: Manfred Möller
Artist: Heinz Mack
Organized by: Biblioteca Nazionale Marciana
On display are large-format paintings, a set of partially rotating light stelae and a mirror sculpture, presenting an exceptional retrospective of the artist’s work from the last 60 years. Heinz Mack addresses the theme of light with the aim of exploring it in its purity. The German artist’s works will enter into an evocative dialogue with the works of the great Renaissance masters that decorate the Monumental Rooms of the Biblioteca Nazionale Marciana.
Heinz Mack, one of the most important exponents of kinetic art in the world, was born in Lollar, Germany, in 1931. He studied at the Kunstakademie in Düsseldorf and founded the ZERO group in 1957. His works have been shown in more than 300 solo and numerous group exhibitions and he is represented in more than 140 public collections worldwide. In addition to the Venice Art Biennale, Mack was also presented at Documenta II, III and Documenta 6.
