Salon Suisse: S.O.S. Dada – The World Is A Mess

Palazzo Trevisan degli Ulivi, Campo S. Agnese, Dorsoduro 810

Salon Suisse: S.O.S. Dada – The World Is A Mess is a Collateral Event of the 56th Venice Biennale organised by the Swiss Arts Council Pro Helvetia and curated by Juri Steiner and Stefan Zweifel.

For the fourth year since its foundation, Salon Suisse organise its program of events and talks to offer a platform of exchange dedicated to art and contemporary thought. Responsible for this year’s «Salon Suisse» are the two Dada-specialists Juri Steiner and Stefan Zweifel, who have put together an ambitious programme focusing on Dada’s cross-epochal force and timelessness, exploring the past, present and future of Dada.

To this day, Dada stands for the radical, avant-garde attempt to push boundaries and challenge established ideas. But can Dada still come to the rescue of art and literature after the Situationist International, after Fluxus, Pop and Punk, in a world that is a mess, as former US-Secretary of State Madeleine Albright said recently? The series of early evening events takes place over the course of five weekends between spring and autumn 2015. Each weekend is devoted to a specific theme: «S.O.S. DADA – The World Is A Mess», «Collective Experiments», «Dionysius redivivus», «YES and NO» and «Speculatio mystica».

Partner of the Salon Suisse is Laufen Bathrooms AG; this year’s media partners of the Salon Suiss are terpentin.org and POSTmatter.
