Students as Researchers: Creative Practice and University Education

Centro Studi e Documentazione della Cultura Armena, Dorsoduro 1602

Title: Students as Researchers: Creative Practice and University Education
Organised by: New York Institute of Technology, School of Architecture and Design
Curator: Maria Perbellini
Venue: Centro Studi e Documentazione della Cultura Armena, Dorsoduro 1602

University Education represents an opportunity to develop radical visions that can challenge the conventionality of market-oriented societies. The talent and freshness of students can positively contribute to an inevitable environmental revolution that recognises the need to transform the obsolete metabolism of the city from an energy eater to a power generator without compromising the well-being of future generations.

“Global Mass – Living Mass. Beyond Artificiality: Living Materials” is the composite and multimedia installation of the assembly of the work carried out by the students of the participating universities. The collective production of the artifact and the whole creative and realisation process is recorded and recomposed into the physical exhibition titled “University Dialogs” which embodies the creative practices and processes developed in global contexts. The virtual exhibition section “Knowledge Transfer” within CITYX Venice and Metrotopia Metaverse platforms augments the physical Collateral Event’s Exhibition through a unique perspective that connects research and design through practice.
