Helvetia Art Prize 2016
The winner of the Helvetia Art Prize 2016 is Stella. The Art Prize comes with prize money of CHF 15,000 and an exhibition at the international art fair LISTE, Art Fair Basel (14-19 June 2016).
The jury for the 2016 Art Prize includes: Kathleen Bühler (Curator of the Department of Contemporary Art at the Kunstmuseum Bern), Jean-Paul Felley (Co-Director of the Centre Culturel Suisse in Paris), Helen Hirsch (Director of the Kunstmuseum Thun) and Dorothee Messmer (Director of the Kunstmuseum Olten).
The Art Prize, first granted in 2004, is intended to help recent graduates of Swiss universities in the area of “Visual and Media Art” launch their careers. It is a testament to the corporation’s long-standing tradition of supporting contemporary Swiss art. The prize is directed towards young artists at the beginning of their careers. The company’s existing art collection, one of the most significant of its kind, is focused on contemporary Swiss works of painting, drawing and photography. The Art Prize for Emerging Artists is expressly open to all disciplines. This aims to support new ideas and art forms among the emerging generation of artists.
