PRICE – Where Do You Wanna Go Today
By restructuring pop songs and zapping through different architectural worlds, the artist’s performance of his pop-musical audiobook Where Do You Wanna Go Today in a vocal reduced version of thirty possible acts, is a direct dialogue with the Swiss Art Award Ceremony on the 12th of June 2017.
In this current music-performative work, the artist Mathias Ringgenberg develops the fictional character PRICE who questions and appropriates various identities. His album evokes feelings of identical disorientation, instability, fear and the struggle of love and relationships.
Exploring the mechanisms of mainstream pop while attempting to unlock the potential of various musical and performative formats that correspond to showrooms, theatres or clubs, is the focal point of Ringgenberg’s work. Thereby, he is able to constantly change the audience’s experience in relation to this context.
The show is curated by Deborah Holman and realized with the support of Tanzhaus Zürich, City of Zurich, Canton of Zurich, ProHelvetia and Ernst Göhner Stiftung.
