Swiss Design Awards 2019

The Swiss Design Awards exhibition forms part of Switzerland’s oldest and most renowned design competition. Created in 1918, it was conceived as a tool to promote Swiss trade and industry after the First World War. Since then, it has evolved into Switzerland’s foremost design competition and encompasses graphic design, fashion and textile design, scenography and design mediation, photography, product and industrial design. Since 2018 the exhibition also shows works by the Swiss Grand Award for Design winners. The Swiss Grand Award for Design is granted to individual designers or established design firms that contribute to the renown of Swiss design nationally and internationally. The Swiss Design Awards exhibition at Art Basel and Design Miami / Basel provides an excellent opportunity to sample the latest developments on the design scene in Switzerland and serves as an important meeting place for designers, critics, curators and gallery owners.
